A new wave of retreats is emerging — wellness in the wilderness. There is a rare kind of magic that unfolds when yoga meets the wild. To move, breathe, and meditate against the backdrop of vast horizons and untamed landscapes is to experience both stillness and awe in equal measure. Here is our hand-picked selection of the most inspiring yoga and safari retreats, where mindfulness and adventure converge in an unforgettable immersion into the savanna.

Along the Chobe River, herds of elephants gather in extraordinary numbers, while the open savanna stretches endlessly to the horizon. To be here is to witness the wild in full abundance, and to meet it through practice and presence that awaken every sense.

The journey begins at Victoria Falls, one of the natural wonders of the world. Two nights at Insika Lodge offer a pause for wonder, with time to experience the falls in their full power and a sunrise yoga session while drifting on the Zambezi.

From there, the path leads into Chobe National Park for river safaris and game drives before arriving at Munga Plains, where every detail is designed for full immersion in the wilderness. Tented suites of wood, canvas, and thatch carry the romance of safari, each with a private porch overlooking the savanna where wildlife moves freely at dawn and dusk. Inside, ensuite bathrooms, spacious double beds, and modern comforts complement the camp’s natural charm, ensuring ease and serenity throughout the stay.

Guiding the retreat is London-based teacher Anthony Selwyn, whose style blends depth with openness and a gift for holding space. His approach weaves movement, breath, and mindfulness into a practice that prepares you to meet the wilderness with presence and connection.

Mornings open with yoga beneath the vast Botswana sky, afternoons unfold in the bush or along the river, and nights invite stillness with yoga nidra or the quiet thrill of a nocturnal safari. It is a retreat that weaves adventure and renewal into an experience that stays with you long after you leave.

ENASOIT, KENYA

Yoga & Safari Retreat | January · Februruary · November, 2026

There are few places left in the world where nature feels this untouched. To be immersed in the wilds of northern Kenya is to experience life at its most pristine — a landscape where elephants roam peacefully by the watering hole, giraffes wander outside your room as you wake, and nights open to skies so clear with stars that the constellations feel within reach, a sight long forgotten in city life.

The journey begins in Nairobi with a soft landing at House of Waine, a serene boutique hotel on the edge of the city. The next morning, a private charter carries guests north to Enasoit Conservancy – an intimate sanctuary of just eight rooms where every detail is attended to with understated luxury: tented cottages with fireplaces and verandahs, nourishing chef-prepared meals, and a setting that allows the wilderness to be your constant companion.

Here, yoga and mindfulness become more than practice — they are preparation. Each breath, each movement, tunes you to the rhythm of the land, so that when you step out on safari, the experience runs deeper. Whether a game drive, walk or ride on horseback, every encounter with the wild feels more intimate, because you are fully present and connected. Evenings gather around the fire, with restorative yoga beneath the stars and abundant dinners that carry the warmth of community and shared stories.

At the heart of it all is Laura Bunting, with deep roots in Kenya and guiding wellness retreats here for over five years. Her teaching blends Vinyasa, Yin, and meditation into a soulful, awakening practice, shaped by her deep connection to the land. Recognised by National Geographic as “redefining wellness in the wild,” she is joined across different dates by a circle of guest hosts, each adding their own unique dimension to the experience.

This is a rare privilege — an immersion into nature at its most majestic, where yoga and safari converge in grounding transformation, shaped with quiet luxury that lets the land speak for itself.
